Event Summary:
Come learn how we make controlled crosses to breed blight resistance into American chestnut trees! You will learn how to identify chestnuts, the anatomy of male and female chestnut flowers, how to recognize the appropriate times to collect and use pollen, as well as storage tips. This is a great event to attend if you’d like to make your own American chestnut crosses, or help with pollination when we get to the restoration phase!
Practical Details:
This event will be outdoors in a forest, so please wear the appropriate clothing and footwear. Bug spray, sunscreen, water is recommended.
