Event Summary:
Meet at the Ayum Creek Park Reserve parking lot on the south side of Sooke Road. Join TLC's Environmental Technician in managing periwinkle by helping with mulching the perimeter to stop the spread of a quickly-growing patch. Since 2017, TLC has been conducting a restoration trial at Ayum Creek to determine an effective method for controlling periwinkle (Vinca minor), a garden-escapee and very invasive plant. Preliminary results from this project have shown a significant decrease in periwinkle where “lasagna-gardening” has been placed.
Practical Details:
We will be working outdoors - so please come dressed for the weather and bring a bottle of water. Snacks, tools, and safety supplies will be provided.
