Event Summary:

S,DÁYES Flycatcher Forest is a 13 acre conservation property located at 3600 Sailor Road on North Pender Island, W̱SÁNEĆ Territory. It is mostly forested by globally rare Coastal Douglas-fir forests, but also features a sizable wetland at the property’s center. This land was purchased in spring 2021 by Raincoast Conservation Foundation and our partners at the Pender Islands Conservancy Association. On June 7th we will continue ongoing restoration activities on Flycatcher Forest, which will include invasive species removal, debris collection, and ecological monitoring.

Practical Details:

The event will happen rain or shine, so please dress accordingly. Closed toed shoes are a must! We can provide work gloves and safety glasses, but if you have your own please feel free to bring them along. Likewise, we have all the tools we will need but if you have a special pair of loppers or a shovel you'd like to bring, please feel free to do so. Snacks and drinking water will be provided!

COVID-19 Protocols:

The event will take place entirely outdoors so there will be plenty of fresh air and room to socially distance. We will have a handwashing station set up as well as plenty of hand sanitizer available for participant use. We also have reusable, clean cloth masks available for participants to borrow if needed. Finally, all tools and gloves have been sanitized since their last use.
