The Restoration Ecology Club at the University of Nevada, Reno will be having a pollinator garden tea and weeding party. We will meet at Rosewood Nature Study Area's pollinator garden and we will have a table with iced tea and snacks, an educational table with handouts about restoration ecology, the plants in the pollinator garden, pollinator identification, and a pollinator coloring book, and we will have a station to weed invasive plants from the pollinator garden to help native plants establish.
Participants should park in the main parking lot for Rosewood Nature Study Area and walk to the nearby pollinator garden. They should be able to see the tables and people in the pollinator garden from the parking lot. If participants want to weed, they should wear clothes they don't mind getting dirty and bring gardening gloves. It's going to be 92 degrees and sunny, so participants should bring sunscreen, water, and protective clothing like a wide brimmed hat.
The event will be outside so we are not requiring masks outdoors. There is no current mask mandate in Reno and masks are not required inside the Rosewood visitor center, but participants are welcome to wear masks in the visitor center if that makes them comfortable. We will also have hand sanitizer at the booths.
