Event Summary:
Project will focus on removal of invasive Japanese knotweed and replacement with native shrubs. Educational outreach is a focal point, as well. This creek is treated like a stormwater conveyance channel and often floods during storm events. Riparian buffer is minimal and abutting businesses mow to the edge, however, they are now partners. Levels of conductivity are high and impact a Trout stream at its confluence.
Practical Details:
Meet in parking lot of Tully's Good Times. Wear footwear that can get wet. Due to historic dumping, there may be piece of glass or other debris in the soils so bring gloves. Project partners like Tully's, Subway, Hampton Inn and Crown Beverage will provide snacks and drinks.
