Event Summary:
Bear-Paw will be hosting Biothons at our new preserves. Our goals for these Biothons are to collect a complete list of species that grows, walks, swims, crawls, or flies on the property, and to provide an opportunity for people to explore and learn more about nature. Participation is open to everyone, regardless of identification skills, but there are no trails on the property and the terrain is uneven. Data will be collected using iNaturalist (preferred) or old-fashioned paper (slightly more chaotic). There will be an Informational Booth with field guides to help identify organisms, and volunteers will be there to answer questions. Join a group, create a team, or go it solo! Practical Details:
Please meet at the end of Mohawk Trail Way (unfindable via GPS; the intersection of Cross Road & Ridge Farm Road in Strafford is a more useful search). Please dress for outdoor field work and the usual woods hazards (ticks, biting insects, poison ivy) are present. Participants should bring their own water and snacks. Please register in advance at www.bear-paw.org/biothons.html
