Join the Conservation Department in making a difference at Buffalo Bayou Park to help mitigate against invasive species propagation. Manual removal and clipping of seed heads from King Ranch Bluestem, Kleberg Bluestem, Guinea Grass, and other invasive species along the bayou’s riparian zones help promote native plants and conserve the natural beauty of native habitats in the heart of Houston.
Volunteers will meet at the park visitor center. Bring water to stay hydrated, comfortable shoes to do outdoor work in and moderate hiking, Sunscreen, Hat, sunglasses, gloves, and pruning shears if available. Additional tools will be provided for volunteers if they do not have their own or depending on the task.
This will be a completely outdoor event so masks will be optional. Shared equipment will be sanitized and social distancing is encouraged between volunteers.
