Habitats: Prairie Dogs in Longmont

Event Summary:

At this Wildlands Restoration Volunteers event, we will continue work started last year, installing prairie dog barriers at Blue Skies Park. The City of Longmont values prairie dogs and has many properties with colonies that provide wildlife viewing opportunities to the public. There are areas adjacent to colonies that are not suitable to prairie dogs due to conflicting uses such as a turf grass park. Physical and visual barriers assist with keeping prairie dogs from migrating onto unsuitable habitat.
